Meet the new Golf Plus, comically named the Sportsvan by VW. Apparently VW has learned from Toyota by giving their least sporty cars a "sport-" moniker. Anyway, just like the old Golf Plus it's between a hatchback and a CUV, and thus mostly for those who'd like a Golf but want to sit higher without some of the drawbacks of a CUV. Or something like that. It's over 10 cm taller than a regular Golf, about just as wide and 8 cm longer than the 5-door Golf (and 22 cm shorter than the Golf wagon).
I'm sure the older target demographic will continue to like it.
The old Golf Plus:
For those who want to make a Golf station wagon comparison; it's quite different. This is the (longer and sleeker) Golf wagon:

I think this should be an improvement over the outgoing car that doesn't provide much more than a few centimetres of added headroom.
Looks pretty good to me, too. Good on them!

It is an improvement, but I find it difficult to say anything else that's positive. Realizing that a 30 year old like me isn't even close to the target demographic I should probably restrain myself in voicing my opinion too blatantly. Still, just look at that interior. The whole car is so... boring. I do have to add that it's a concept, but I imagine the production model will be close to identical.

It's for people who want a boring car, though, so I'd consider it appropriate. Seeing that concepts rarely get more exciting during the transition into production, they might manage make this even less funky. ;)
It's a subtle car for people who only know the Golf and simply need a little tad more room.

what else can we put "sports" on? How about a sports-enema? The bottle is in Gulf livery!

We need sports traffic lights, they don't change any faster but they are somehow sleeker.

Can I get a golf plus gti? If so then I might be sold. Two kids had me looking at mazda 5s, but they don't make a mazdaspeed5. Also, apparently the 5s are only like 3400lbs. I could turbocharge that.

I don't think so. Why not a regular 5-door GTI or the wagon instead? The Plus only adds height and a cargo space larger than the hatch but significantly smaller than the wagon.
